Tip 1: Get their attention

We outlined this in our YouTube Tutorial, but it bears repeating, you want to make sure you grab your audience’s attention early in your video. If you can, do it within the first five seconds. Make a statement that’ll spark curiosity and keep them engaged. The best way to do this is to address a common problem they may be facing.

Tip 2: Hype up your brand

Audiences will wonder why they should choose your product or brand. You hooked them by addressing any concerns or issues they face with your intro, now you let them know your brand and/or product has the solution. Highlight your brand, show them how you’re unique and that you have what it takes to help them. The more benefits you highlight, the more effective the ad could be.

Tip 3: Time it right

Like most things in life, it’s all about timing. Not just when you post your video but how long it is. Remember you are NOT filming a documentary! You’re on social media where attention spans are really short. Keep this in mind if you’re writing a script or adding copy to your video.

Tip 4: Tell audiences why

This goes hand in hand with Tip 2. Give your audience a reason to believe in your brand and in what you’re selling. You want them to watch your ad and not only be informed but believe that you have what they need to solve whatever issue they have. Emphasize this and keep it in mind when you start brainstorming.

Tip 5: Remember the CTA

What’s the point of an ad if you don’t provide a call to action for your audience? Just like any other form of marketing, a call to action is a must-have at the end of any content including your video. Leave audiences with an action they need to complete. Give them a number to call, link to click, site to visit or email to contact. Whatever it is, make it easy to remember and even easier to accomplish.

Some other tips to remember: it’s always valuable to write a script, know the platform you’re posting on and, most importantly, get creative.
