WeVideo Interactive Video Now Available to Canvas Customers, Bringing Interactive Video Assessment to K-12 and Higher Education
As an Instructure Recommended Partner, WeVideo is now available to school districts, colleges and universities through Instructure’s sales team
Mount Pleasant, SC – October 21, 2026 – WeVideo, the interactive video learning platform, today announced that Instructure, the leading learning ecosystem and maker of Canvas LMS, has named WeVideo an Instructure Recommended Partner for K-12 and Higher Education. Under the agreement, WeVideo is now available to K-12 districts, colleges and universities through Instructure’s sales team. This gives Canvas institutions a path to interactive video assessment inside the Canvas environment they already use.
Schools and colleges are under growing pressure to show that digital learning produces results. Generative AI has changed how students complete and submit work, so educators need more ways to see understanding as it happens. Recorded lessons and lectures are among the largest instructional investments an institution makes. Yet educators often can't tell what students understood from a video until the test.
"Colleges and school districts have invested heavily in video, but most still can't see what students actually learned from it," said Beth Griesbauer, Chief Revenue Officer at WeVideo. "WeVideo closes that gap inside Canvas, where educators already teach and grade. Being named an Instructure Recommended Partner means Canvas institutions can now get that through the Instructure team they already work with."
WeVideo runs inside Canvas LMS. Educators add questions, branching and graded activities to videos they already have, including Canvas-hosted video, lecture capture, YouTube and Zoom recordings, without re-recording anything. An AI-assisted feature drafts questions from a video's transcript, and educators review every question before it is published. Grades flow directly to the Canvas gradebook.
For colleges and universities, WeVideo supports centralized and faculty-led course design, separately or in tandem. Instructional design teams can create an interactive video once and deploy it across online programs, course sections, and adjunct-taught courses, so every student gets the same content and assessments. Faculty can also author their own interactive videos, tailoring them to their courses alongside centrally designed materials. Interactions carry over when a Canvas course is copied into a new term.
The partnership builds on WeVideo's existing Canvas integration. In 2025, that integration earned Canvas Certified Integration status, which Instructure awards after independently reviewing an integration's adherence to LTI 1.3 standards, data privacy, accessibility, security and user experience.
“Institutions build extensive video libraries in Canvas, and WeVideo lets educators turn that content into interactive, graded lessons without re-recording,” said Melissa Loble, chief academic officer at Instructure. “The Instructure Partner Program connects institutions with more than 2,000 partners, so they can choose the tools that fit how they teach inside the platform they already use.”
